Daniel Vening is a current member of Royal Academy Opera under the tutelage of Mark Wildman and Iain Ledingham. Having previously graduated from the Royal Academy of Music’s BMus course with First Class Honours and MA course with Distinction.
On the operatic stage Daniel has performed ‘Lackey’ in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos for Garsington Opera and as an Alvarez Young Artist covered ‘Mícha’ in Smetena’s The Bartered Bride. For Royal Academy Opera, ‘Re di Scozia’ in Handel’s Ariodante, ‘Betto’ in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, The Portrait in Martinů’s ‘Alexandre Bis’ and ‘Snug’ in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
September 2024 saw Daniel make his BBC Prom’s Debut singing the role of Bottom in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Recent work on the concert platform includes performances of Haydn’s Creation, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Handel Messiah, Mozart Requiem, Bach St John Passion, Bach B Minor Mass, Bach Cantata 40, Bach Cantata 70, Schubert Mass in G, Mozart Solemn Vespers, Fauré Requiem, Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus and most notably Schubert’s Winterreise.
Competition success includes Neue Stimmen 2024 Final Round, the Lewis Memorial Prize, the 2023 David Clover Festival of Singing, where Daniel was the winner of the Recital Prize, the Opera Prize, the Lieder Prize and joint winner of the Oratorio Award. Winner of the Lewis Memorial Prize and Audience Prize winner in the Richard Lewis/Jean Shanks award. At Garsington Opera Daniel was awarded the Graham Clark award.
